ever since creating a block set for my 2 year old neighbor one year ago i have been imagining a follow-up of smaller blocks from a collection of enchanting woods, more like gemstones than woods. Super heavy, hard and dense... the black black of Ebony, the warm red of rosewood, and the prominent grain of bocote. All finely sanded to the smoothest tactile finish. Delicious, giddy feelings every time i think of the opportunity to work with these exquisite woods. Hard to stop myself from the purchase of more varieties (olive, lacewood...) all with their own a personality and attitude. But for now... "trying to savor what i have". A mantra echoing well beyond my exotic woods : )
Your two year old neighbor just loved those blocks, and he now loves his own set of ebony and other hardwood cubes. You compare these blocks to gems, but we truly found them akin to gourmet chocolates!
How fortunate we are to be blessed with bits of your whimsical work, Miss T!
Should you ever want to share more of your world with local parents, please let me know. I'd love to feature you on my new San Francisco Examiner site! http://www.examiner.com/x-34058-Sonoma-County-Parenting-Examiner
i am the creator of curiosities/artifacts for adorning one's life. i feel so blessed to be able to freely splash and play in so many collected, creative materials dear to my heart. the world of miss t is one part creative laboratory, one part homeschool, one part neighborhood of doll houses, one part bric-a-brac and one part disheveled dolly sanctuary. i love to sew, knit, crochet, collect and ponder things. i have tearoom and flower shop imaginings in which to expand the good use of my home economics and culinary degrees...but for the fleeting moment, me as "mommy" is my best and most purpose filled work.
